Our ego represents our desires and wants them to be perceived, recognized and fulfilled. With its constant tendency to exaggerate, however, it often achieves the opposite. It makes us collide with the views, expectations and sensitivities of other, mostly equally immoderate egos and challenges their resistance and rejection. Politics, religion, morals, climate change, LGBTQ+ ... We are constantly expected to think, act and be as others think is only right. And although we all suffer from this in one way or another, we don't do any better ourselves. We react to even the smallest deviations from our convictions with indignation and rejection. However, this doesn't make the world a better place, but merely moves us further and further away from a compatible coexistence into an increasingly irritated antagonism in which anger and hatred become ever louder. We have no idea where each other's dislikes, fears, sensitivities, hurts and so on are, how deep any prejudices and resentments lie. Only one thing is certain: The detonators are so sensitive in all of us that even the slightest misstep can lead to an explosion.
