A CHRISTIAN DEVOTIONAL OF POSSIBILITIES The "What If's" in life deal with "possibilities". Sometimes these possibilities thrill us or make us laugh. Other "What If's" speak deeply to us and challenge us to change. There are some "What If's" that we hope will not ever happen. As you read each "What If" devotional, may you be challenged to live each day to the fullest in preparation for it becoming true! Read only one "What If" each day. They are meant to be savored and discussed with a friend. "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens-what can you do? They are deeper than the depths of the grave -what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. (Job 11:7-9) "Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom." (Psalm 145:3) As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. (Ecclesiastes 11:5) "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." (1 Corinthians 13:12) What if God, who is love, decided to make an awesome supernatural display of love greater than any other display in creation? What might God do to show awesome, amazing love to us? Consider these steps: 1.Create a beautiful creation. 2.Create humans to see the beautiful creation that was made specifically for them to enjoy. 3.Shower humans with love by giving each person amazing gifts: A.A billion dollar body containing a spiritual life (soul) made in the image of God. B.A free guiding service throughout life with a 'live-in' counselor. C.Love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control along with many other special benefits. D.A Supernatural Book with specific directions on how to become prosperous and successful. 4.Display awesome supernatural love to the very people who inflicted Him with incredible pain. (Author's note: Showing love out of excess is good; showing love out of sacrifice demonstrates even greater love; showing indescribable love to those who caused the deep personal pain demonstrates the most amazing, powerful love imaginable!) Jesus Christ set aside His mighty power and glory in Heaven, then came down as God/Man and died for each one of us in the most unusual, supernatural display of love in all of creation! Nothing anywhere compares with God's display of incredible love. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". (Genesis 1:1) "So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27 "The Lord will guide you always..." (Isaiah 58:11) "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you." (1 Corinthians 3:16) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (Galatians 5:22) "Do not let the Book of the Law (Bible) depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." (Joshua 1:8) "Who, being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on the cross!" (Philippians 2:6-8) "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13) "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
