Arthur Stanley suffers from anxiety, panic attacks and phobias. He lives in intense fear most of the time. He's a loner working at a restaurant where he falls in love with Judy, a beautiful, weird and extremely intelligent person. Witnessing the rape of the girl he's fallen in love with and the killing of his boss, Stanley thinks about taking his own life because he cannot deal with his emotions anymore. Before trying to kill himself he crosses paths with a secret organization called the ELDEST, led mainly by a Neurosurgeon called William Godkin. They've been studying the possibility of operating on humans and creating a special unit for the government of fearless soldiers, by taking away the part of the brain where fear lies. Stanley, desperate to get out of his situation, instead of committing suicide, decides to be a part of the project. This is where the roller coaster ride begins. He starts a process of transformation where killing and evolving spiritually seem to get mixed up in an intellectual frenzy. This science fiction short novel is the first part of a hell of a story.
