My proposition is that, apart from prac tical considerations, the Latin and Greek languages are intrinsically the best for the purposes of discipline: so much the best, that, if a course were exclusively disciplinary, there should be no hesita tion, and in any course that admits of even but two languages, one of these should be one of the two.
