'So, Rev. Parry presents us with a tricky situation. His chaos is reminiscent of Purgatory, with a guide, a figure, called the "Dancing Pilot," like Dante's Virgil. The content of the piece, therefore, has all the hallmarks of Absurd Theatre, or a series of pictures by Dali.' -
Reinhard Auer
,
Director of Liberty Theatre of Bolzano
Women In Mayhem
is a nonsense dramedy in three prank-scenarios examining trans, heterosexual, and lesbian women in various worlds and clearly bewildering relationships. As such, Parry's poetic prologue establishes the unfolding chaos before an opening act explores a struggle between a young author and his mysterious uncle. Secondly, audiences are invited to an Azerbaijani mortuary where a black Sybil judges the recently deceased President. Lastly, onlookers witness a clash between the journalist James Cameron and an elderly Dr. Albert Schweitzer in the latter's hospital in Gabon. Each performance being eventually crowned by an anarchistic epilogue, which rolls activism and dramatherapy together. All in all, by following Edward Lear's inspiration, Parry aims to stage the madness characteristic of modern times, while involving everyone present in breaking the boundaries of theatrical expectation in the most entertaining way imaginable.
Rev. David William Parry
is a British priest with the Old Catholic Apostolic Church, author, and theatrical. As a teenager, he sensed that he was homosexual and became involved in human rights movements, including protests with the Gay Liberation Front as well as the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
