The place of women in the development process, and particularly in social decision-making, is still a topical issue in African countries. In Chad, despite the fact that women make up 52% of the total population, the literature shows that they are not involved in socio-economic and political decision-making. Women in the commune of Faya-Largeau, who represent 45.24% of the communal population (RGPH, 2009), are not spared this discrimination. Several factors disadvantage women's leadership in this commune. The hypothesis of our study is that socio-cultural weight disadvantages women's leadership. The aim of our work is to show the impact of social and cultural burdens on women's leadership in the commune of Faya-Largeau, despite the efforts made by the government and its partners.
