This is a book you will share with your child when they have been "hurt" by a name-calling bully or to prepare them if it ever happens. It's a no-nonsense approach to "Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me". The colorful children in this name-calling book familiarize your child with some of the common names' bullies use to get a reaction. If your child learns to not react, it takes away the power of the bully's words. It's so important to teach children to have the discipline to ignore things that are meant to trigger a reaction of hate or violence. It's tough love. You're giving your child a life tool instead of a sympathetic hug. I like using the example of how a Military Drill Instructor would react to a recruit complaining to them that another recruit just called them "big sissy". I don't think the Drill Instructor would give them a hug. The Drill Instructors job, and your parental job, is to build maturity and discipline. To strengthen. To keep kids focused on things that matter. And to keep them out of trouble. Even to 4-year-olds. And all ages above. The kids in this book are so colorful and fun to look at. Please share this tool with your child. It's very powerful.
