As the title suggests, this is a collection of Edith Wharton's short stories. Overall this is an enjoyable collection of short stories that is worth reading as many of the stories showcase the human condition. "Xingu" is a laugh-out-loud story of a pompous book club. "Coming Home" tells the tale of a wounded French soldier returning to his home near the front. "Autres Temps" considers how times change yet we remain stuck in our times. "Kerfol" is an old-fashioned ghost story with a great last sentence. "The Long Run" tells of love lost, and "The Triumph of Night" is an odd story concerning premonitions of evil. "The Choice" leaves one pondering over the choice that was made, and "The Bunner Sisters" finished up the book with a sad tale of devotion
