This book is written by Nikki Wardwell Sleath, MA, PT, RMT, and High Priestess of the continually growing Connecticut coven Society of Witchcraft and Old Magick. It is aimed at increasing public awareness and acceptance of the practice of witchcraft. The author describes threads of magick in her life that were there all along in the hopes of showing how a person with a very mainstream upbringing can end up becoming a witch professionally and spiritually. The comparative memoir section of the book prompts the reader to also examine periods in their own life for evidence of magick. The second half of the book seeks to debunk witchcraft for the skeptic or the new seeker by discussing modern day witchcraft practices, general belief systems and the ethics of magick. The personal quiz at the end of the book leaves the reader with a lighthearted take on just how witchy they, themselves may be. Even in this modern day and age, fear and ignorance regarding alternative spiritual and religious traditions persist, and it is part of the author's personal mission to do her part to improve public acceptance of earth-based spiritual practices, and to improve the atmosphere of religious tolerance in general. As above, so below. Blessed Be!
